Antigua and Barbuda

2017/2018, the GHTK Board of Directors reviewed the work done to-date to reduce neonatal mortality in Guyana.  There was recognition that this work would not have been successful without the support and participation of the Ministry of Health in Guyana and Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).  GPHC is the largest hospital in Guyana and has supported GHTK’s involvement in providing neonatal equipment and establishing educational programs for physicians and nurses.

Given the success in Guyana, the Board of GHTK was encouraged by outreach from other countries to establish similar programs.   Given this broader focus, the Board decided to change the name and logo of “Guyana Help The Kids” TO “Giving Health To Kids (GHTK)”.   This corporate name change was approved in early 2019.   The logo was also changed to reflect the new name.

The GHTK philosophy and approach to supporting developing countries has been embraced by Antigua and Barbuda, and a Memorandum of Understanding has been prepared to enable GHTK to begin working with the Ministry of Health in Antigua and Barbuda.   Some neonatal equipment has already been purchased and sent to Mount St. John Medical Centre in Antigua.  Also, the NICU Nursing Training Program for Antigua will begin in July 2019.

GHTK has a proven track record of helping to support education and provide much needed equipment to continue its vision of “Every child deserves a tomorrow”.
